Brighter Days teams up with ONE DC |
This summer, we took advantage of the opportunity to help support efforts on the part of our neighbors to resist what's referred to as "The Columbia Heights Effect" taking root east of the river, in Anacostia. Through the brilliant, innovative efforts of our beloved friends at Holden Creative (who built our site, head to toe), the Brighter Days Collective is helping ONE DC rebuild their entire web operation, and tailor it to streamline their communications and organizing. We wholeheartedly encourage folks to check them out, support them, or even get involved in their work. All the euphemisms aside, what is happening to the District via "revitalization" is tragic, and displacing neglected and abandoned communities to the suburbs (or worse) is an affront to our collective dignity. As dogwalkers, we relish the privilege of taking in this gorgeous city and all its residents, and everything that both have to offer us. We're honored to support communities resisting gentrification and the bantustanization of the city we call home.
