Desert Dogs Come to the District

Cleo, recently rescued from Kuwait. Now a proud Brighter Days client.

On March 24th, 2010, the only animal shelter in Kuwait suffered a tragic electrical fire and could no longer house the 60 some dogs that lived there. Forty of the dogs found homes in Kuwait and the Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL) agreed to take in the remainder and find them good homes. Brighter Days has been lucky enough to be the new care taker of one of these dogs! Cleo, a desert dog from Kuwait, arrived in her new home last thursday. She is sweet and skinny and doing a great job adjusting to her new home. Cleo's likes include belly rubs, running up and down the stairs in her new house, trans-atlantic travel, and face kisses.

Also, our favorite Saluki/English Wolfhound mix that we walk Sabra, was invited to WARL to play with and help socialize some of the Kuwaiti dogs. The animals who came over to the US included two Saluki mixed dogs for Sabra to make friends with. There's no cooler relative than uncle Sabra!

We have been getting so many requests from the 18th St area, that we had to hire an additional walker-- just for you!

I don't know what else to say except that we are very thankful for all the love and to keep it comin' cause we are ready for you now! And thanks for providing us the opportunity to bring another dog walker out of the world of contract labor and into the wide world of collective based business ownership.

The snow-pocalypse is here! We are still working despite the mountains of ice and fluffy white material covering neighborhood sidewalks. The fed and city governments and schools were closed today. And there will be more closings tomorrow. Let your walker know if you will be needing a walk or will be home.

We will do our best to continue to accommodate time windows as the week progresses. But may shorten walks due to dangerous walking conditions. We appreciate for your flexibility and understanding! Snow-dog thanks you!

Wow, I can't believe it really happened. Mayor fenty signed same sex marriage into law. Today. Just now. !!!

Excuse me if this post sounds like its written by a tween, but I am brimming with child-like glee. Also, overcoming my fear of writing (!) to mark this auspicious occaison.

It's not only a victory for equality, civil rights, and the District. Its also a fun game changer!

Go DC, "home rule" be da*ned. A city of northern charm, southern efficiency, and so much gay.
